We hope to inspire your creativity with the projects we share here. We are home schoolers and love to be different, learn new things and have fun. We try to be as open minded as possible and when people say you should do something in a certain way, we ask why? Why should we follow suit? We are all unique and process things in different ways, so we should be free to express ourselves in our own way.

BOOK REVIEW (By Natasha 07/11/16) - Easy Crochet Weekend By Nicki Trench
“Easy Crochet Weekend” (pictured above) is from a series of books by Nicki Trench. This book has 30 crochet projects for you to try that are all for the home or to wear. Each pattern is laid out clearly, it has materials suggestions, tension/gauge suggestions, skill level and photos to accompany it. There are not any ‘how to crochet’ sections in these books. So you either need to already know the stitches or have a guide with you to assist your understanding of the patterns abbreviations. The one I got from the library was in UK terms but it should be available in other countries.
The book gives enough choice to keep even the fussiest person happy. The patterns are also easy enough for a beginner to get start on full projects that help progress your crochet skills. Some of the patterns in “Easy Crochet Weekend” include slippers, socks, gloves, scarves, hats, bags, cushions and more.
I am a fan of the “Easy Crochet” books because when I was a beginner, not only did it enable me to get started straight away on projects, they also give so much inspiration and ideas for future projects. The Crochet Flower Square Cardigan came from one of these books, which will give you an indication of the quality of the projects that the books contain.
I found the patterns really are easy to follow and understand. The rows/rounds are clearly stated, as are the different sections for the project (where necessary). The abbreviations are also included on every pattern so you don’t have to keep turning back to another page. The pictures are excellent, as is the overall layout. However, one downside is that it only seems to recommend expensive brands of yarn, so you will have find cheaper ones with the same tension/gauge yourself.
