BOOK REVIEW (By Natasha 24/10/16) - The Birds & The Bees By Milly Johnson
Milly Johnson is my author of choice for personal reading. I loved her books from the first one I ever read. I have been making my way through them slowly. The Birds & The Bees is Milly’s second book that she wrote back in 2008. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. I get thoroughly entranced by the evolving story. It hooks my heart and my sole. I laugh, I cry, I gasp.
The descriptions of the characters give me a clear picture in my head of what they might look like and I love Milly’s ideas for characters. She really portrays everyday people in a magnificent way. They are at the centre of the story and I love the way she unfolds a bit at a time about each of them. You really feel a connection with the characters.
The Birds & The Bees is a story about how Stevie Honeywell thinks a person is the right one for her that she is set to marry Matthew. Then he leaves her for someone else. Then while trying to win him back because she truly thinks he is the best thing that ever happened to her, she starts a journey of discovery that unveils things may not have been quite as they seemed, she’s not the person she thought she was (nor what others thought she was) and she becomes attracted to someone she despises. There are a lot of misconceptions that the characters have about it each other and it is fun watching them trying to work things out.
This is a fun romance comedy that I think even men will enjoy reading. I feel as if I am a bit biased saying that I highly recommend this book, because I am a genuine fan of Milly Johnson novels and would read (and love) anything she writes. In saying that, I feel that her style of writing and attention to detail right down to accents of the characters, is one that the majority of people will enjoy. Go on, give it a go, you will be glad you did.
