We hope to inspire your creativity with the projects we share here. We are home schoolers and love to be different, learn new things and have fun. We try to be as open minded as possible and when people say you should do something in a certain way, we ask why? Why should we follow suit? We are all unique and process things in different ways, so we should be free to express ourselves in our own way.
Check out our About Us page for more information about us and what we do.
I hope this brings you creative joy and inspiration.
I have been starting off a bit earlier than I normally would with Christmas items, but I just can’t help myself – I LOVE Christmas! Here we have some crochet snowflakes. I made these last year and didn’t know what to do with them so I stored them away until I thought of something. I am very particular about what crochet snowflake patterns I like because some look more like stars and others look more like flowers.
I had to block most of them because they had got a bit squished from where I had stored them. Then I decided to join them together to make bunting. You could also put individual loops on each one and use them as Christmas tree decorations, or buy some of those suction cup hooks and put them in your windows.
I found the patterns for each snowflake in three different places:
“100 Snowflakes to Crochet” by Caitlin Sainio;
“150 Blocks to Knit & Crochet” by Heather Lodinsky;
“75 Birds, Butterflies & Beautiful Beasties to Knit & Crochet” by Lesley Stanfield.
Each pattern was very quick and easy to follow because they are very clearly written. I also got the books from the library, which was another bonus.
The finished size of each of them were (approx.):
Small - 8cm (3.1″)
Medium – 12cm (4.6″)
Large – 16cm (6.2″)
I worked the snowflakes in UK Double Crochet/dc (US Single Crochet/sc), UK Treble Crochet/tr (US Double Crochet/dc), along with picots and working in the round.
The yarn I used was free DK 25g balls that came with magazines, so I do not have a brand name for them. However, they were perfect for small stylish projects like this because they were easy to work with and came in great colours.
I hope this brings you creative joy and inspires you to start your own yarn-tastic journey.
