Bobble and Knit - Sewing Crochet Hook Case

Sewing Crochet Hook Case By Kayleigh

I recently designed and made a case for my Mum because she had too many crochet hooks. She asked me to base it of off a card that had beach huts on it. This was the first project that I properly designed/wrote out before making it.

I made it using scraps of material, two buttons and some ribbon. The ribbon seemed rough and almost crunchy but after being washed it seemed to soften and become silkier.  The material was a variety of pieces, the part (the case) was made from old bed sheets I found in a charity shop, the beach huts were made from scraps left over from other projects and an old t-shirt, and the buttons came from an assorted bag from Hobby Craft.

I decided to make it so that it had two layers and a pocket for the hooks. I stitched the details on the outside to one layer, and then I stitched the pocket to the other layer before stitching both those layers together (folding the edges inside so there were no raw edges left) while also resting the ribbon pieces along one edge in between the layers so that they were stitched to the case at the same time.

This project is really simple and definitely comes in handy. It can be made bigger so that you can keep knitting needles in, or it can be used as a pencil case.

May all your crafting wishes come true...
